DESCRIPTION: Join us for an unforgettable adventure at Black Chasm Cavern National Natural Landmark! This 50-minute guided tour will take us through the stunning upper chambers of this unique vertical cave, where we’ll witness stunning formations and a beautiful blue lake deep within the cavern. Tour Details:Time: Tour begins at 11:00 AM (Please arrive by 10:30 AM)Cost: $16/adult, $9/child (please bring cash)Location: 15701 Pioneer Volcano Road, Volcano, CA95689Capacity: Limited to 25 people per tour – RSVP requiredDuring the tour, an experienced Cavern Naturalist will guide us through three chambers, explaining the geology and science of speleology. Be prepared for 5 flights of stairs and 3 platforms as we explore this vertically oriented cave. Besides the impressive stalactites and stalagmites, Black Chasm Cavern abounds in rare helictites, found in only 5% of caves in the world. If you want to explore more around the park, there is an easy 30-minute walk along the Miners Trail, which meanders through marble formations that were left after hydraulic mining during the Gold Rush.  Lunch Options After the TourAfterwards, we will have lunch at Volcano Park off of Main Street in the town of Volcano, a short 2-minute drive away. Bring a picnic lunch or pick up lunch at the historic Sizemore Country Store. Important Notes & Restrictions⚠️ Health Considerations: The walk is not strenuous, but those with joint, heart, or respiratory concerns should assess their ability before participating. The cave is not wheelchair accessible due to stairs. Infants and children may not be carried in backpacks (front packs are allowed). Carrying children in arm is not advised due to safety reasons. No food, gum, or drinks are allowed inside the cave, including water. Backpacks, large purses, tripods, selfie sticks, and walking sticks are not allowed in the cave. Pets and emotional support animals are not allowed in the cave.
