Come join us as we celebrate the launch of fellow Cal bear Elizabeth Mehren's fifth book, I Lived to Tell the World, at Mekong River Bistro on March 29. The book presents 13 inspiring profiles of men and women who have endured unthinkable cruelty, only to resume productive lives in their new homes in Oregon. Historical, cultural, and political context are weaved in alongside these personal stories of resilience.
Light refreshments will be provided, and drinks and books will be available for purchase. Some of the survivors profiled in the book will also be in attendance.
Elizabeth Mehren is a Portland-based writer, editor, and educator. After working at The Washington Post, she became a national correspondent for the Los Angeles Times and later spent a decade on the faculty at Boston University.
