Join Sac Cal Alumni for a fun hike in Lake Tahoe! We will be hiking the Tahoe Rim Trail to Picnic Rock, a unique rock formation offering stunning views of Lake Tahoe. Afterwards, we’ll enjoy a picnic lunch and relax on the beach at Kings Beach State Recreation Area.

Schedule:
10:15 a.m. Meet at the parking lot and entrance of the trail
10:30 a.m. Depart for hike
1:00 p.m. Finish hike, travel to beach for lunch

Directions:
From Sacramento, take I-80 east to Truckee. Take exit 188B for CA-89/CA-267 S toward Sierraville/Lake Tahoe. Follow CA-267 S for 8.9 miles to the trail head. The parking lot will be on the eastbound side of the road. The trail head is directly across from the parking lot on the westbound side. There are no restrooms at the trail head.
What to bring:
Bring a lunch, snacks, lots of water, layers, sun protection, sturdy hiking shoes, and a chair or beach towel for lunch after the walk.
Note
Parking: Park at the trail head. If we have a large group or there isn't enough room at the trail head, we will park in Kings Beach and carpool back to the trail head. After the hike, we'll drive down to Kings Beach, where parking is available at Kings Beach SRA ($10/day or $3/hour) and in public lots.
Kids are welcome but must be able to handle a moderately-difficult hike with breaks. Leader keeps a 3.0 mph pace.
