When: Sat., Sept. 27th 8:00 AM Where: James Peak Wilderness, East Portal of Moffat Tunnel Trailhead
Celebrate the fall colors by hiking on the Continental Divide with the Rocky Mountain Golden Bears! We will meet at the entrance to the highest train tunnel in the United States. Board Member Peter Beck ('89) will guide us up the gently rising Boulder Creek Trail to the lovely Crater Lakes (6.8 mi, 1850'). The more ambitious can continue on to the breathtakingly spectacular Heart Lake (9 mi, 2,200') or even Peter's favorite 13er, James Peak (15 mi, 3,500').
Directions: The trailhead is less than one hour from Boulder. Take Highway 119 to Rollinsville. Turn onto Tolland (dirt) road until it dead ends at a large parking area.
