Event Details:
Immerse yourself in breathtaking views, diverse wildlife, and fascinating geological formations. Our guides, Denise, David, and Laura, will enrich your journey with engaging insights into the area's ecology, history, and cultural significance.
Important Information:
- Our hikes are almost always on uneven terrain, even if it is relatively
level walking. We don’t follow many paths, nor are there groomed trails.
- All hikers must wear hiking boots or at least sturdy shoes.
Athletic/running shoes are not always comfortable for most adults.
- Dress in layers
- Hats are good – chinstraps or keeper cords help on a windy ridge!
- Hiking sticks are helpful.
- Be prepared for rain (rain gear) or shine (sunscreen)
- We don’t have significant tick issues in the Buttes, but there may be
mosquitos.
- We keep an eye out for poison oak.
- There may be thistles at certain times of the year – long pants are
preferable to shorts.
- The Buttes can feel much warmer than the surrounding area – bring
plenty of water!
- If teenagers are coming – limit or disallow energy drinks. They can lead
to sickness and dehydration.
- Carry lunch and snacks for the day – lunch is on the trail.
- Bring a daypack rather than a tote.
- Chairs are not recommended unless they are part of a program you may
be doing, but a seating pad is sometimes nice on a hard or damp rock.
- Cameras and binoculars are always welcome.
